I am offering an original eight-day key wind Ship’s Bell Clock & Matching Barometer. Based on their design, quality, and materials used they were likely built in the 1970s. The brass cases measures 7" wide, 4" deep, have polished aluminum 6½" hinged doors (with domed beveled glass window), 5¼” faces, and attached eight spoke 13" mahogany/brass ships wheels. Both backs are stamped “AUG.SCHATZ & SOHNE" "GERMANY". The clock still strikes the bells in the "Ship’s Bell" pattern consistent with the four hour watches assigned to crewmembers. This clock face has Arabic numerals and is signed: "Schatz” “GRAND MARINER" “Bell Icon with 8 in center” “MADE IN GERMANY”. The Barometer and curved glass tube Thermometer are functional, but there is no assurance they will be so after shipping. The face is signed “HOLOSTERIC COMPENSATED BAROMETER” “Schatz” “MADE IN GERMANY” “CELSIUS” “FAHRENHEIT”. The prior owner indicated he spent a lot of money to have both units cosmetically refurbished. Shortly after that the clock would not run the full eight days and eventually stopped completely. He was very upset and decided not to spend any more to have it cleaned and/or serviced. These matching nautical antiques display beautifully and are well worth some additional “TLC”. Please read my entire description in detail plus view the pictures carefully before bidding!
