Refurbished USN Quartermaster’s Telescope. Spyglasses of this type were Built for the U.S. Navy and used by the quartermaster detailed to steer the ship. Based on the design, the materials used, and the exceptional quality it was likely built by the prestigious Wollansak Optical Company, based in Rochester N.Y. The Wollansak scopes were distinctive because they weighed more than others and had a brass hex anti-roll unit built into the main tube Most of these spyglasses were produced for the U.S. Navy during WWII. it measures 31½” in length, with a 2¾” aperture (object end), has the original leather main tube cover, and weighs 6 pounds. It appears that the original focus adjustment assembly has been replaced. Wollansak stamped their company and telescope information on their focus assemblies, which is not on included on this unit. The main tube has a rubber protector installed, on the object end, and has a couple of minor dents. The telescope does not show any material damage and has a clear view, but has seen some sea duty.
